FaithLink Gives “All Good Gifts”

Faithlink continues to serve the community by giving “All Good Gifts” from their annual fundraiser on April 27th at the Grand Pointe. Faithlink gives a huge thank you to Leavitt Funeral Home for sponsoring the event as well as guest speaker, Becky Mathis-Stump for her words to the attendees, and the local businesses and churches that came to support the community. This annual fundraiser included a silent auction of about 100 items that were sought after by the 300 guests that were in attendance.  The evening was filled with those who were ready and willing to learn about Faithink and what they can do to give back to the community.

Faithlink is a program that is part of Community Resources, Incorporated that assists with individuals who are 60+, physically disabled, or have a FaithLink Dinnerchronic illness and serve to help them  maintain their independence. In the past year, out of 370 of Faithlink’s Care Receivers, 107 are low income, 70% live alone, 75% are female, and 137 are over the age of 80. Faithlink is grateful to their volunteers who, in 2016, have totaled 1,766 hours of work including 13,000 miles driven, 1,582 services performed, and 500 transportation requests filled.  Program Coordinator Melissa Ogden, is dedicated to assisting those that are in need and has a passion for serving the community saying, “working with our Care Receivers at Faithlink is so important because not only do you assist them [Care Receivers] with their daily activities, but also by giving them independence while building a close relationship.”

Faithlink is an important program in the community and is always accepting of volunteers who are ready and willing to serve. Volunteers would assist with transportation, shopping and running errands, housekeeping, and being a friendly visitor. If you have the heart for serving then you should apply to be a volunteer by going to www.faithlinkwv.org or calling 1-866-585-5525. Faithlink is always happy to have volunteers share the same passion and heart for those in the community.
